Over the past year we have had 14 children join Sunday Social. Numbers can vary from week to week on how many attends.
During a Sunday Social session, the children have the opportunity to learn about Jesus’ life and being a Christian through various activities. This may include crafts, games, using the technology that we have and reading the different bibles that are available every Sunday. The children thoroughly enjoy the activities that they choose to do. Just as we the leaders and helpers enjoy planning and supporting them with these activities. A snack and a drink are offered to the children during the session which is usually eagerly received. At the end of our time together the children are so eager to share what they have been doing with their parents and others within the church. This is a real encouragement to us leaders and helpers.
A couple of highlights to share with you from this year. At Christmas the children took part in the Christmas Service by sharing a song they had learnt with actions to go along with it. It was lovely to see the Children being actively involved in a service. The children are keen to support the chosen charities for the year. We had a lovely time in March planting flowers and making gifts to raise money for Torch Trust. The children will be choosing another fund-raising activity later in the year to support Open Doors. It has also been lovely to see several of our families welcoming people into church on a Sunday morning.
As of January, Sunday Social themes have been in line with the biblical teaching of the services where possible.
Sunday Social could not run without the small team of willing leaders and helpers that we have. To be able to continue the wonderful work of Sunday Social for our children and young people we need more leaders to come on board to join the team. We encourage you all to pray about this. If you feel this is something God is calling you to help with or you need to know more about then please come and speak to us. We would like to thank the team that has been very supportive over the last year knowing it has been a struggle at times. But Sunday social would not be able to run without you all.
It is a real privilege to be a part of the Sunday Social team. Seeing the children eager to attend Sunday Social, having fun taking part in the activities and wanting to learn more about Jesus.
