11/02/2021: Sunday Zoom Services & Weekly Home Groups

We have taken the decision to keep the church building closed until the end of April at the earliest. Whilst this was not an easy decision to take, it is one that we feel is right in order to keep everyone safe. We have also made the decision to move our Sunday morning church services to Zoom, which will give us a more visual experience of worship as well as a chance to share fellowship with each other. There is also the option of telephoning in to the zoom sessions so that you can hear the service. If this is something you would be interested in please get in touch with me (secretary@desboroughbaptist.org.uk or 07594 853959).

We are very grateful to those who have offered to lead us in worship over the coming weeks. Nick Cook will be leading us in worship on February 14th at 10.30am on Zoom. The invitation will be sent out to all who have given me their email addresses and to all those whose email addresses are in the Church Directory. If you wish to be included please email me with your address. You will be sent the invitation each week so there is no need to request it.

The invitation will come from zoom.dbc@outlook.com. Please check your junk mail if you don’t receive the invitation before contacting me. (You should receive your invite by Saturday evening.) If you are unable to join a service when it is live, a recording of it can be emailed out to anyone in audio form you can listen to it later. The recorded audio service will be edited and put on the website for the following week and CD’s will still be distributed to those who would like them.

The Monday and Wednesday Home groups will continue on Zoom, again the invitations will come from the church Zoom email address above. The monthly Thursday prayer meeting will also continue as before. May I  encourage you to join one or more of these events if you can as it is a great way for us to grow as Christians and to encourage and build each other up in the faith.

                    2nd December

06/08/2020: Sunday Church Services - building re-opening

Dear Friends,

It is with great joy that we look forward to welcoming many of you back to the church
building to worship together on a Sunday morning!

Our first Sunday back will be on the 23rd August and we will gather for a 10:30am start as
normal.
Whilst some elements of the morning service will feel a little different -like the spacing
between chairs -there will be so much that will be familiar and so much to look forward to!
Whilst we won’t be singing, we know that our worship is so much greater than this and we
do believe that through this time we might come to fully appreciate the breadth of our
worship that bit more. When we gather on a Sunday morning, we will be creating a space to
praise God, pray together, explore His word, and listen for His voice. We might even use
some music for reflection as well!

We also fully understand that this is not the right time to welcome everyone back and if
you’d like to continue to worship online with us as you are presently, please do. The theme
for the services will be the same, so the whole church family will still be worshipping and
growing together!

For those that will join us ‘in person’, the leadership team have completed a risk assessment
to ensure that we can welcome you all back safely and there will be a smiley team of people
ready to welcome you on the morning and answer any questions you may have.

Please have a little read through the guidelines below as these summarise the steps that we
have put in place to keep everyone safe.

DO
 Please DO come expectant that God will work amongst us and ready to praise Him!
 Please DO bring a Bible with you if you’d like to have one to refer to during the service.
 Please DO wear a face covering whilst you are in the building. As you may have heard this
will become mandatory from the 8 th August. We will have face coverings available on the
door if you don’t have one.
 Please DO use hand sanitiser on the way in and on the way out. This will be available by the
    door.
 Please DO maintain social distancing from others who are not in your household. The chairs
will be set apart to make this easier for you and we kindly ask that you don’t move them.
Everyone in the same household will be able to sit together.
 Please DO follow the one-way system in place. As you come in you’ll be invited to enter
    through the left-hand door.

DON’T
Please DON’T come a church service if you have any of the common symptoms of CO-VID 19.
These are a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss of the sense of smell or
    taste.
Please DON’T come if you are still shielding or have been advised to continue to avoid large
gatherings on health grounds. In this instance, please continue to share in the services
through the church website or on CD.

Children
We are not able to run any of our children or young people’s groups currently under the
present restrictions and this includes the Sunday morning groups. Therefore, if you are
bringing children with you, please feel free to bring activity books and other such items with
you to keep them engaged. The services will be a little shorter than normal and we will do
our best to involve the children in all the aspects of worship as we all seek to grow more in
our knowledge and love of Jesus.

Toilets
The disabled toilet by the main entrance will be the only toilet open on a Sunday morning.
The toilet will be disinfected after every use.

If you have any questions ahead of coming to a service at the church building, please do
contact Garry, Annalisa or any of the Leadership Team who will be happy to help.

17/03/2020: All youth group & childrens activities postponed

Due to the ongoing situation with the corona virus, as a church we have made the difficult decision to temporarily cancel, Topz, Teenz, YPF and Building Blocks.
We are very sad to have had to make this decision, but the health of our young people is important to us. We will review the situation after the Easter holidays.
